Exploring a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have discovered numerous interesting indie games. However, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired side-scrolling game lets you play a hero that is literally a turd striving to make its way to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a jump control. In one hundred fifty levels, encounter mini-bosses and visit a store to buy outfits for your poop character.

Execute your actions precisely, since one wrong move requires restarting the level. Bounce on air pockets to launch the poop higher, navigate disappearing ledges, and touch triggers to reveal new areas. Collect coins for buying more difficult game content where gameplay intensifies.

Visually, the game boasts vibrant stages and catchy music score. The retro art featuring morphing abstract forms evokes memories of players of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though tough to recall similar titles where you are a dung character, interactive entertainment have long featured fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as plant food. Naturally, this theme appears heavily in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received notable accolades, including taking top honors at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. This trial version is accessible at present on Steam, with the final release planned to launch on computers on November 19.
